Jason

It is an old custom taught to me by my parents to place a penny of the year in the foundation cement for good luck (and perhaps to let folks know when the foundation was poured.  There are several pennys imbedded (shiny side up) in various projects I have done around our house.

Looks like someone at the factor had the same idea.  Wonder how many more Ercoupes are out there flying with a "new" penny inside.

Took the wings off my 'coupe this week to complete the annual (both the
mechanics and I wanted it extra thorough as it is my first one).

We inspected every single square inch inside the wings, fuselage, and
walkway boxes using mirrors and tiny flashlights.

Guess what was found inside one of the walkway boxes?

A 1945 Denver minted penny!

I wonder if it was placed there when first assembled, or if someone who
had owned it prior had placed it there... for good luck?

I'm thinking about putting it back in (secured of course) when it is
reassembled.
