Tim,  Don't despair.  I have been there and done that.  The  entire center
section can be rebuilt one piece at a time without removing it from the fuselage.
Not really a hard job, but labor intensive.  I "repaired" my spar by replacing
everything but the steel fitting with one I made of .040 2024T3.  The new spars
are .050 and cause an interference fit to the one not being replaced - I don't
think that .010" would be a problem though.  I was amazed at the rivet alignment
using used parts.  I had to go to 1/8" rivets in some places (all original rivets
on the skins were 3/32"). The toughest part is the 3/16" rivets at the splice.
I took left center rib that attaches to the rear spar splice out and installed the
rivets from the front side.  Try to get the fuselage with the spar in a 45 degree
or vertical  orientation to the floor of your shop area.
