It looks like I am going to have to pull the center section out of 99547. I pulled the belly skin last weekend and found good news and bad news. The good news is that it appears as if I don't have a corrosion problem. The bad news is that the left rear spar has been bent sometime in its past. It has a pretty good "S" bend in it. The log book shows that in the early 70's a hangar fell on it and cause major damage to the left wing. I suppose that is when the spar was damaged and it was let go.
The bright side of it is that it will give me a chance to rebuild the center section. The spar is nearly $300 from Univair. Ouch. At least it is available.
Any of you pull the center section before?
This is one time that I'm glad I'm an A&P/IA. I couldn't afford to pay someone to do it.
