The FAA lists their ADs online:
Specifically, AD 55-22-02:
You have to look under the "Make" as "Univair Aircraft
Corporation"... and I'd recommend looking at all the 415/E/G/Alon/Forney/M10 ADs
even if yours is just a 415-C.
And Univair did have the AD (reread the
email).
As for Annual Inspections taking a while... mine took far,
far, far, longer... I haven't received the bill yet, but the worksheet showed 26
hours at last check.

Glad to see some of the new owners are becoming
educated. Even two days is a bit much, but we'll give you a pass.
The fact the Univair doesn't have a copy of its own
AD speaks volumes. I really wish they would sell the TC and tooling to
someone who gives a crap. Any IA should be able to print a copy and you
can also get it from the FAA web site after some navigation.
A nice service that all good type club have is a
listing of Ercoupe experienced mechanics that are taking on new
work.

He had not checked to see if the tank was made of ternplate. It was not. It was aluminum indicating that the original tank had been replaced in comnpliance with the AD 55-22-02.. Further discussion with my mechanic resulted in tightening the header tank fuel cap to eliminate the persistent overflow from there and the subsequent conclusion that the tank was leaking. Nonetheless, this will be carefully checked in the future.Part of the problem was that the aircraft long books prior to the late 1950's were lost and subsequently no notation that the tank had been replaced.I tried to find that AD in the FAA website but couldn't find it. It evidently had been changed from the original publication requiring "replaement with a stainless steel tank" to "replacement with a stainless steel OR ALUMINUM ALLOY tank" This bit of information came from Tim at Univair who did have a copy of the latest version of this AD.How can I get a copy of the latest issue of this AD?Not so incidently, this annual has taken the mechanic four days. The last two took a half day or less. I like to believe this tells me something.
