Kim, Wait for the answers from the mechanics on the list. My first (very NON-mechanically able) thought is: use a hacksaw an cut off the old throttle cable. New throttle cables are not that expensive nor hard to install from the panel to the carburetor. Again, give first priority to the experts ideas.
