Randy,
I would second Larry's advice. I've insured my Coupe with Global through
Falcon since I bought it in May of 2005. They were very easy to deal
with even though the Sport Pilot Rules were less than a year old at that
time. I assume that you probably are an EAA member (if not I suggest
that you join) and you can access the EAA web site to get any needed
contact information. They originally wanted to insure my plane for a
little less than I had invested in it. However, it was a simple mater to
get them to adjust the premium to the amount I requested. Their checkout
requirements were also reasonable and did not require extensive hours in
type or transition training. I do not know what requirements they will
set for a student pilot but I assume that they will at least be
competitive in both price and restrictions (or lack thereof.)

I am a student sport pilot and I own a 415C. I found out today that
my insurance company will not cover sport pilots or Ercoupes as LSA.
Is there anyone out there who is a sport pilot with an Ercoupe and
insurance? What's a good company to go with?
