To have the nose wheel steering done by the pedals requires only an Alon
pedal kit. (Maybe you can fabricate the equivalent and get it approved via
a form 337 - let's ask the A&P/AIs on the list.)

The only advantages to the Alon rudder pedal kit are:

1. You can turn the yoke into the wind after landing to prevent wing
lift. This is pretty much a moot point on a Coupe with the tail at the
specified height because the wing is at such a low angle of attack there's
little tendency for the wing to lift.
2. You have easier re-transition back to the majority of planes. Not a
big deal, IMHO.

The advantage to the ERCO pedal kit (nosewheel steering on the yoke) is that
in emergencies, you have tens of thousands of hours of experience telling
you that in emergencies, you turn the wheel. Fred observed that even very
experienced pilots tend to turn the yoke first in ground emergencies and
only push the pedals as an afterthought. So, you're safer on the ground
with the ERCO pedal kit.

In the air, it makes no difference at all.
