My fuel tank vents allow fuel to flow overboard when the tanks are
overfilled, or the tanks are full and the plane is on an uneven surface.
Just make sure the vents are facing forward, into the relative wind!

Bill, I once filled my wing tanks to the brim. When i
turned the plane the fuel ran down the wings, so i
don't fill the tanks quite so full anymore. The caps
have a hole that directly vents the tanks. air and
fuel can travel both ways. I suggest leaving two
inches space in the tanks to prevent fuel from
sloshing out. Remember the machines were designed
before the EPA existed. so one can smell fuel when
standing near the tanks. Watch that smoker. Larry C.

Hello all,
I have a question on the venting of the gas cap on
the 415C. I had my
tanks filled to the top ( which I don't usually do
because of weight with me and my instructor) since I
was going solo. I
proceeded to take off and looked out to see
fuel coming out of the vent on the gas cap!!!
UGH!!!!! Are these caps
supposed to be a one way vent? Only on intake, or
are they just a hole in the cap to let air go both
ways????
Thanks
Bill

Ps I think I lost about 1 gallon of fuel besides!!!
