Subject: [ercoupe-tech] Muffler won't stay tight...

I had a problem a while back with my muffler coming loose every few
hours of flying. I could become disconcerting because when it came
loose the engine sounded very different, causing me great concern. At
the last annual, two weeks ago, I had the mechanic replace the
muffler clamps with new $60 ones from Univair. I flew 9 hours last
weekend to Knoxville and as we returned the engine sounded funny
again. After landing I looked and the right stack had come completely
out of the muffler!

Any ideas of why the muffler won't stay tightly clamped onto the stacks?

Thanks!
