Ralph.

If we as a group of enthusiasts are not able to manage keeping a focused
discussion, we failed as a group.
If we need some higher authority to decide what can be published and what not,
we will essentially kill the free speech in this group.
If I know that my messages will be filtered and delayed, I might not even
bother writing.
These e-mail groups are true free and democratic groups. For it to be
democratic, everyone needs to have the decision power to decide what is
appropriate and what not.
You can do that by deleting messages you don't care for and more importantly
by not answering anyone that is writing about non-technical stuff, or doing
propaganda for any of his non-Ercoupe believes.

I do not see a need to have someone read 20 -50 messages a day and to decide
what is apropriate or not. A mannered group can handle that more efficiently, I
believe.

If there is to be hands-on moderation of the groups--something I think is a
good idea--I'd like to see it begin with censoring non-tech posts to the tech
group. Like this post. Ed, can't you start tightening the tech group? You
could begin by simply deleting non-tech posts on the tech group and sending
them over to the flying group.
