There is some interesting info on weight vs control for Ercoupes in Ercoupe
Information Letter No. 1 contained in the Memoranda and Service Bulletins as to
how the model CD came about. When the D model came out with 1400 lbs. gross
they had handling problems. Changing the elevator travel was not a perfect
solution.so they reduced gross weight and named it a CD. The solution came with
the E model with an elevator with a smaller effective control area. I bought
the weight change STC but have not yet incorporated it into my coupe. I think
i may look for an E model elevator so I d'ont have to restrict the elevator
travel
