There has been some discussion concerning leaking fuselage tanks
here recently. Since I am having my leaking tank fixed, I have done
a little research into the replacement of the tank with a new one
from Univair. Besides costing $1,500.00, I discovered that Univair
no longer sells a nose tank to fit an Ercoupe with a serial number
earlier than 2623 (using part number 48145). The older Coupes need
part number 48025. That might explain why some people are having
trouble installing replacement fuselage tanks.

As we speak (so to speak...), my A&P/IA is attempting to remove my
nose tank for inspection, repair or replacement. It seems like the
likelihood of getting a serviceable salvage nose tank is rather low.
Since a new tank is not available, repair seems to be the only
option. How does one go about getting a leaking fuel tank repaired
in a way the meets FAA regs (remember that I am in the middle of my
annual at the moment)?

By the way, my propeller is being repitch at Santa Monica Propeller
for $250.00.
