Last year I picked up a Alon N6518Q and moved from denver, co. to
anchorage alaska. I had planned on flying it up but due to the bad
weather and short time I had off of work I brought it up on a snow
machine trailer. It took my wife and myself about 1/2 hour to remove
the wings. The trailer was about 12 feet long and 8 1/2 feet wide. The
plane's landing gear fit with about 4 inches left to spare on the
trailer. The tail overhung the back of the trailer and the wings just
fit between the gear. The empty aircraft weighs about 1000 pounds or
so. This amount of weight was no problem for the light weight
trailer. We had no problems during the 5 day trip driving through
canada and into alaska. If you would like pictures of the "rig" with
the plane on it let me know. I am not an A&P so I think any one could
remove the wings with out any trouble. You do however need the
replacement of the wings done or atleast approved by an A&P.
