Hi Robert and All, I would assume you have done your homework on this
particular coupe. Prepurchase inspection etc. There is a cold weather kit just a
plate that covers the nose bowl hole under the prop - other than that fresh
fuel fresh oil. Make sure the heater works. Proper air in the tires. A GPS ,a
Map a sandwich or two, thermas of coffee a slug every now and then to warm ya
up. Thats a fun trip Syd and I did it to S&F this year. Plot your course so
you are over airports just in case--- go fer it !!have fun Dennis 99564 in ILL

Iowa to pick up what looks like a fairly
pristine Ercoupe, CD model. I have read about that Ercoupes exhibit
some unexpected cold weather characteristics from time to time. Anybody
have any insight on what these characteristics may be? I have heard
that ice in the fuel lines may be a problem and the engine baffling has
to be just right to avoid having a rough running engine.
I have to fly it to Florida so it will be similar to Lindberg crossing
the Atlantic, at least to me, and the first half of the trip is going
to be very cold. I'd appreciate any insight on cold weather ops.
Thanks.
