Hey Tom: I agree that removal of the venturi's saves weight AND drag. When I
took the vacuum system off my G model (removed two large venturi's, both
gyros, electric turn&bank, suction gauge and suction adjustment valve, and all
associated plumbing) and replaced it with an TruTrac ADI, I saved 10 pounds.
More importantly, I saw a considerable increase in glide during
approach. I wish I had thought about it prior to removing the stuff, because I
would
have actually measured the increase. I could see and feel the difference
(Seat of the pants) and really felt good about it.
