Response to Frank Nelson question
I don't have good data but my guess is that the direction and attitude
indicators with associated regulators and hardware would weigh about 6 to 8
pounds. The drag on the plane for the venturis has been estimated at 2 to 3
mph for a single large unit and another 1 to 2 mph for a second one for a turn
and bank instrument.
If anyone has better data I would appreciate having it as this question has
come up before. Remember , you don't get something for nothing, to create
vacuum you generate drag.
