Glad that you saw an improvement Ron. I have also used both single and
multi-weight
oils in my engine but found no measurable difference in oil use between the
two. I opted for multi-weight year
round. I’m not sure it’s true, but I
bought into the notion that multi-weight may provide better lubrication during
cold weather starting.

I tried multigrade about a year back, and I immediately got an increase
in oil use - a lot! Turned out that it was blowing out the oil vent
line at a prodigious rate..., (the belly sure wasn't going to squeak as
well as it got oiled...!)-soon as I went back to straight weight, oil
use returned to normal. I do have the crankcase vent elbow extension
that is supposed to help with the vent oil loss. Anybody else seen this?
