I just had the job done, and as I recall there were two options.

One was to penetrate and lubricate, and the other was to completely
replace.

The complete replacement seemed the most practical, since it also
eliminated a periodic maintenance requirement, I believe.

Subject: Re: [ercoupe-tech] Bellcrank for AD 67-6-3

Hey Bob: The proper servicing of the nose strut is to have the fluid
approximately 6 inches below the plug on the measuring cable (with
weight on the gear). I believe originally there were green marks at the
6 inch point and red at about 9 inches. Unfortunately the hydraulic
fluid takes the marks off.
The new rudder bell crank has a nylon (or something that looks like
nylon) bushing and does not require any lubrication. The modification
was to put a hole in the top of the stabilizer over the rudder bell
crank, plug the bottom hole of the hollow shaft, and lubricate (oil) it.
I do not have the part numbers of the new bell crank, but you should be
able to tell by looking if it is the new or the old style.
Most Ercoupes have removed the aileron counterweights. This requires
a little less play in the ailerons than is allowed with the balance
weights. In addition, there is an AD that requires inspection of the
balance weights every 25 hours and a different one at 100 hours.
If you do not already have all the publications, I strongly
recommend that you call John at Skyport and have him send you the
Service Bulletins, Parts book and Maintenance manual. ( 800-624-5312)
