Every pound is important. Before you decide to use only material specified for
use in an aircraft check it's weight. Remember 5 pounds here and 5 pounds
there starts adding up.

  Subject: [ercoupe-tech] sound insulation

Since I'm getting rebuilt wing tanks, as most airplane projects go, it leads
to other things. Has anybody added sound deadening material directly to the
aluminum skins, behind the interior upholstered side panels? Maybe the trade
off between reduced decibels and added weight is not enough to justify it.
I was just looking in an industrial supply catalog for other items (as part
of my job, NOT airplane parts) when I came across sound deadening material, and
wondered if there is an equivalent aircraft grade?
