I've used those helix type tiedowns before.  If the ground is soft enough to 
allow you to screw them in, they won't hold anything, and if the ground is 
hard enough to allow them to hold, you can't screw them in.  Talk about 
lose-lose.  Not only that, but by the time you get three of them screwed into 
the 
ground, you need an hour of physical therapy.  The Claw is the way to go.
