My battery power has always been a problem. Has anyone figured out a
way to install an external power coupler that would allow the easy
connection of a battery charger. Currently, one must open the baggage
bag, remove the battery box lid bolts, remove battery box lid, connect
the charger, and leave the canope partially open for the power cord to
pass thru. Then of course, reverse the whole thing when one wants to
go fly. I see many planes with simple external power plugs. Why can't
we put one on a coupe?

Would anyone care to recommend a battery they have found to be
reliable, long lived, and economical? I only seem to find batteries
that fit just two but not three of those criteria.

My GPS is mounted on an old 5 X 7 clip board that straps to my right
knee (or my wife's left knee when she flies with me). It is simple,
easy to stow away, uses no panel space, and cost almost nothing. I
actually enjoy using old fashion dead reconning with my charts, timer,
and calculator. Although, I have opted to use an electronic E6B in the
cockpit as my concession to the modern computer age.
