"How does one boost start an Ercoupe?"

My answer: You don't.

The Ercoupe was build at times where starting an aircraft involved moving a
propeller with your bare hands.

The later models added teh electrical starter for your convinience. If that
starter fails, you still can hand prop the plane.

I did that a few times when I had a weak battery. Works, but needs proper
planning.

Other than that I used a long Jumper Cable and hooked that up to the battery-
charging it with my car. Admitted , replacing the battery lid can be cumbersome
at times.
One can even boost start the engine that way, but you would have to leave the
airacraft engine at idle while trying to remove jumper cables and car and what
have it.
