My coupe came with a dowel stick (about 1/2" in diameter) with a piece of clear plastic tubing attached to it and the gallons marked off on the dowel. I put the dowel stick in the tank, close off the top end of the tube with my finger, and withdraw the stick. The fuel will stay in the tubing until I lift my finger thus showing the quantity. Of course this means you will have to drain the fuel and add one gallon at a time to calibrate your dowel stick; but
you only have to do it once.

Due to Summer heat and since our 415C LSA Coupe is restricted to 1320
lbs my partner and I have decided to reduce our fuel in the wing tanks
for more payload and better performance. I have the universal fuel
quantity stick. Is there another way I can determine the fuel quantity
in the tank other than draining the tank and fill as needed to check
the level on the stick ? With 9 gallons and full I can determine the
full mark on the stick but any suggestions on a reduced amount of fuel ? Thanks in advance. Hope to see many Coupers at the AOPA open house this
Saturday in Frederick, Md ( FDK )
