Bill,
Most of our generators are 60 years old.  I am doing a full restoration. I
had my generator and regulator fully load-tested and had to have the generator
armature rewound and a new commutator installed.  Might check that--or get
a new alternator...John N2138H

I've owned my Ercoupe for just 3 months and have flown it a little
less

than 50 hours, but have now had my third electrical system failure. I

hve replaced the Generator and Regulator with new or "overhauled parts.

Is this common for these systems ? Should I make room in the plane to

carry a full set of spare Electrical system parts? What are the

experiences of others that are still using the "original" generator

system ?

P.S. I've not yet completed the required tests to determine which part

has failed, but will be working on it through next week.
