One thing is important in equal fuel management is the seal on your fuel caps
to equalize venting and pressure in the tanks. New gaskets may solve the
problem.

A serial number over 4000 indicates that the fuel system is up to the latest -
means there should be a return line that is divided with a T piece to allow
flow back into both tanks.

Depending how the tanks are vented the level in both tanks can distribute
differently. Also the return lines might feed the tanks uneven.

I am convinced that 2 inches unevenness is no cause for concern. The plane can
just have not been level when measured.

A different story is when one tank ( the left one) appears empty and the other
is still filled up. That raises your pulse when it happens while enroute.

For the serial number of the plane with the uneven fuel level question, Jim

All,

It often helps to include the model and serial number, when asking any
question involving the mechanical aspects of the plane and sometimes when
asking about flying aspects

Sometimes, good answers need this information.

All the best,
