Mine came with those under the landing lamp fairings just like yours - my mechanic and I both think they were put there to aid in keeping stuff flung about by the tire from getting over / into the strut, esp. the donuts section (your case) spring stack (my case). If it offends you, you look pretty handy with the paint, so put some on it. Your paint does look really nice.
