That seems like an easy one to answer: You don't see more fully restored
Coupes because people tend to hold on to them.

My casual observation is that improvement/restoration costs only add half
their value to the value of the airplane. If you put $20,000 into making an
ugly duckling into a swan, the selling price only goes up by $10,000. If
you put in $40,000, you may, conceivably (but probably will not) get a
$20,000 increase in the value of the plane.

If you can buy a pre-restored, really beautiful plane, DO IT! If you love
the restoration process and like doing the work yourself, DO IT (and great
blessings on you!)!

If you want a beautiful plane but you are not a do-it-yourself restorer,
then buying a dog and paying a mechanic to restore it will also earn you my
blessings, compliments and thanks but it will greatly empty your wallet.

People who restore planes often keep them.
