I had an issue I thought I'd run by the group. Today my CFI and I
had smoke in the cockpit. After a brief climb to 2500' with all
gauges "in the green", we noticed a "cloud" of smoke that briefly
appeared near the floor, waifed up and out the side windows.

We thought it was a "plastic" smell and both smell and smoke cleared
after 15-20 seconds (felt like a month). It did not appear to effect
the engine operation, avionics, circuit breakers or strobe light.
All gauges were still "green".

We aborted the flight and immediately turned back to KAPC. On the
entry, we tried various switches, the heater, cabin air, etc and
could not find the issue. It did not return on the short flight back.

Our visual inspection (brief) did not reveal any burnt wires or
anything obvious. I'll have an AP give it a better look this week.
Any thoughts??
