We may have had a similar issue. We would get a puff of oil smoke in the cabin
during high pitch-up maneuvers like power on stalls, chandelles, and general
radical pitch changes.

We found oil would puddle in a cup section where braces are connected to the
nose strut, then overflow or dump on the exhaust/Carb hear shroud next to the
fire wall. We also found the steering boot was old and did not seal well. We
also sealed small holes in the firewall and around the engine mount firewall
connections, and fixed our engine oil leaks. No more smoke.
