Group: Although I follow the discourse on the tech page with interest, this is my first query. We are essentially rebuilding Ercoupe 415-CD, Serial 4787, N94676 which started with an annual in April and is still going strong, and I'm not sure about any end being in sight. We would like to remove the control column to better inspect and adjust the chain drives and to install and align new hardware out to the control wheels. Question: Does anyone know if the control column can be removed by orienting it in some manner so it will clear the major frame member just forward of the spar? This without removing the header tank or the panel. We have come to within one inch of our goal, but so far no cigar. Does anyone know of anyone who has accomplished this feat? Maybe its not possible. We would appreciate any help or guidance. Thanks much.
