Hey Jim, 1) Protect innocent people on the ground, 2) Protect your passengers, 3) Protect yourself, 4) Don't bend the metal. Thirty years as a CFI, that's the order I've always taught it. You did it in the right order. Not that it will make you feel any better, but I helped get N99285 back flying a few weeks ago, and am about six months away from a complete restoration on 2747H. So, the fleet is still at 'plus one'. I acquired two others, where the re-building cost was just overwhelming. Parts, are parts. Both of them had their donor cards, and are doing their part to help with the other two....as well as one that went down a couple of months ago in Petaluma (CA), and anybody else I can help.
Rick Eason I was a victim of bum luck (had full WX brief) or PILOT ERROR (both?) - when I first saw this place I had the runway headings (not marked as you see) and circled quite a few times to get oriented and ultimately had a successful landing - BUT - SHOULD I HAVE JUST GONE ELSEWHERE TO "CONVENTIONAL FACILITIES"?? I guess I'll be interested in what the Feds decide. Meanwhile, I've spoken with J. Wright, Jr. who reviewed my 3 dozen photographs and said with $100,000 and 2 years he could make it well. I guess I am indeed an Ercoupe killer. Terribly sorry! Jim Beach Brennan Peace Dale (guess I should un-rent hangar) PS- WHAT ARE THOSE TREES DOING IN AN AIRPORT?????????
