Guys bring me up speed on this. Do I need an STC to use my 415C for
light sport? I dont fly light sport...YET...but I havent heard
this.  Speaking of STC's , is there an STC to put an 0200 in a
415C and keep it eligeble for light sport? Thanks Rob... N3428H

Hmmm, have mixed emotions on this since I paid a premium for a C
model that would qualify for the LSA STC. The best would be that the D
& E models qualified and the prices jumped to the level of the C's
and (of course) you had a D or E model already.

I would love for the LSA weight increase to happen.
I would anticipate the FAA receiving pressure from current LSA
manufacturers NOT to increase gross weight for LSAs, as their market
will be eroded if thousands of Cessna 150s are allowed in.
Still, I am hoping for it.

Here
it is boys and girls!  Seems like we've got AOPA in there
pitching for us, but you should realize it's the back door
knocking.  Write them a letter encouraging their efforts on the
weight increase, but don't lose sight of the original initiative and
mention "Ercoupe".  It's not for "Ercoupes" or any other
manufacturer, the suggestion is to possibly allow safety items.  Get the
picture?

Don't get rid of those D models just yet and if there's a good deal on one,
think about snatching it up.  I will!

FAA WEIGHS SPORT PILOT RULE CHANGES
With
some four years of real-world experience behind it, the FAA is zeroing
in on proposed changes to the sport pilot rule. In addition to the 22 proposed
changes
that were already announced earlier this year, AOPA wants to see the
aircraft gross weight boosted beyond the current 1,320 pounds. This
could allow the inclusion of a bigger group of existing production
airplanes such as the Cessna 150. It would also allow room for advanced
safety equipment like emergency parachutes. Read more on AOPA Online.
