OK, Now I think I know why the Prop Bolt torque values given in the
Continental Engine Overhaul Manual are different from those given in the Alon
Service
Manual. FR suggested, and WRB confirmed that the torque values in the
Continental Engine Overhaul Manual are for threads lubricated with oil. (It
helps
to read the Notes!) I don't have my Alon Service Manual handy, but I have a
feeling that it doesn't say anything about lubricating the threads, so the
values in the Alon manual are probably dry torque values.

Thanks guys!

Anyone want to offer up a reference as to whether the bolts should be
torqued with the threads lubricated or dry? Or should we just be happy
knowing the
wet and dry torque values?
