OK, Now I think I know why the Prop Bolt torque values given in the Continental Engine Overhaul Manual are different from those given in the Alon Service Manual. FR suggested, and WRB confirmed that the torque values in the Continental Engine Overhaul Manual are for threads lubricated with oil. (It helps to read the Notes!) I don't have my Alon Service Manual handy, but I have a feeling that it doesn't say anything about lubricating the threads, so the values in the Alon manual are probably dry torque values.
