There is a copy of a form 337 for split tail approval on my website, sent to
me by Paul Anton.

http://edburkhead.com/Ercoupe/form_337.htm Just call it up and print it.

By the way, the weird signon/password problem that was on my website for a
few weeks is now cured. I don't know how it got started but I couldn't get
into my own site as administrator either. I finally found the way around
that and got the "security" feature turned off.

Hartmut mentions that it is good to change the C up to be a CD. There is,
to the best of my knowledge, no such upgrade. If your plane is a C, then
that's just fine. Changing to be a CD (while not even possible) bears no
advantages.

Making the upgrades that were included in the CD can have advantages. i.e.
aerodynamic trim tab.

Personally, I think that the split elevator was an excellent design change.
Fred Weick told me, face to face, that he thought it was an excellent idea.
No FAA person should ever turn down that modification as it has no downside
at all while giving an improvement in the airplane's stability (reduced
pitch-trim change from zero to full power).

Having said that, I'd also note that I never got around to spending the
money to make the change in my Coupe as the Coupe has quite good behavior
even with the standard elevator.
