Kim,

If your present T&B flops around, AND it is vacuum operated, it simply is not
working due to no source of vacuum....A Venturi is needed.....or change to an
engine that has a vacuum pump..C-90 or 0-200.

Now if it is an electric unit, the wires/fuse may not be supplying
electricity..check out and correct.

I have an electric unit in my coupe.....and is quite useful, as it spins up
with the master switch , so is ready to go immediately.

A vacuum unit only attains proper spin after several minutes of flying
forward..creatiing a vaccum from the venturi ( or from the vacuum pump if
installed on the engine.

Bill has a T&B indicator he's willing to give me, but I have no visible venturi
(see below).  Can anyone give me an education on how mine might be driven (and
how to check)...

Well I guess it could be electric or maybe you have a vacuum pump?   What may
have happened is that you have a serviceable instrument, but someone removed
the venturi just to clean things up.  You might look for evidence of a venturi
on the side of your fuselage.  If that's the case, maybe all you need is the
venturi.  You might check with the list, but I think if you just have a turn
and bank, a small ventui can handle that.  I have my instrument  packed up, but
if it's ok with you, I'll hold off on sending it untill you sort this out.

Cheers,
Bill

I have a used one that you can have if you like Kim.  It was working fine when
I took it out of service a couple of years ago.

My T & B indicator is worn out I guess. It flops around in level
flight and is useless for my instrument and night training. Does
anyone have a good used instrument for sale or a recommendation on a
reasonable new unit?
