Also in this vein I might note:  Once I had a friend that had also 
gotten his `coupe back together.  He found that the header was not
feeding.  We 'motored' the engine with the starter and the pump worked
just find.  Couldn't figure out what the heck, until we got to looking
at the fittings where the pipes go through the fire wall.  One was
loose, so we were pumping air instead of AvGas.  Just another thing
to check.
