Kevin, I try to keep mine about the same,I add oil spareingly, and watch the temp gage. If the oil temp starts to climb, it's time to add oil - soon. Trying to keep it full at 4 qts is a waste of oil for me. I wonder who in their right mind ever came up with the 4 1/2 qt mark? Mike @ C35
