Gary, While I've had good luck I think Hartmut is correct to suggest pulling the jug for repair, or possible replacement. My plane has 1600+ hours on 1994 Superior Cylinders, & all have compression between 75 & 79. However one cylinder was replaced at about 850 hours.

With 700 hours after top overhaul, I'd suggest pulling the cylinder. I just looked at some 4 year run 300 hours cylinders and was surprised how badly the valves can be beaten up. A stuck valve scores the stem and that might be the cause for total failure. A lot of the specialists claim the small continental cylinders only to be 500 hours worth. Thinking it that way you've got already over 100% of the expected life.
