Hey Jim: If the side window piece is at the bottom of the track, it will be
visible below the seat. Just remove the seat cushions, take out all screws
(should be 4) in the seat pan and raise the seat pan. You should be able to
push
the window piece upwards several inches. You may need an extension to push
it high enough to reach it at the window opening.
As far as the trim is concerned, the binding is normally caused by
corrosion/lack of lubrication in the sheath, usually in the flexible extension
in
the stabilizer/elevator. By removing the tailcone, you have limited access to
the trim wire/sheath. Spraying a penetrating lubricant such as liquid wrench
on to the outside of the sheath, and moving the trim as much as you can will
often help. Otherwise, buy a new trim wire and lubricate it with grease when
you install it.
Hope this helps.

I finally got the transponder to work ( replaced with a used one), the
ICOM A-200 radio is now perfect ( bad coax) and was enjoying a great
day of flying in Md before the snow hit. When I closed the pilots side
window before putting the canopy on I noticed the bottom 6 inches of
the glass was still in the bottom of the track. So now I have a 6 inch
opening when the window is closed between the bottom of the frame and
the glass in the frame. Any thoughts as to what caused it ( I try to
sit towards the center of aircraft when opening and closing the window)
and the best way to retrieve the broken glass. Will have to order a new
side window. Also trim seems to be binding and I do not have " free"
movement.
