Lynn, thanks for the update. So is that another incident of a fool trying to do aerobatics in an Ercoupe? And again with a passenger to make things more tragic. However, aileron flutter is something one can avoid by proper maintenance. The story from non pilots really sounds bad, and that is what is written on the local Internet site. However, a local pilot said he saw the plane just prior to the crash in a nose low attitude, obviously exceeding VNE and the ailerons were fluttering. The owner, an experienced pilot, was not flying the plane. Someone recently checked out was flying it.
