Hartmut; Way too early to tell the cause, but the Monday Morning Quarterback is always lurking in aviation accidents. We are our own worst enemies.
I read in one report that witnesses said the plane was breaking apart and the wings came to rest about 100 yards away from the aircraft. Sounds like in flight separation to me. Now what may have caused this was probably going past Vno but why? I don't think a retired missionary pilot would do such a thing while giving someone a ride. Perhaps he suffered a heart attack or stroke that left him incapacitated and the passenger was unable to handle the event! We'll just wait and see. I would hate to think what is going to happen if indeed the wings fell off for no reason.
