CouperKarl aka ProEd,

Altimeter Loosey-Goosey is most likely from the lack of a static system and
being vented to the cabin. Cabin pressure is fluctuation as air flown over the
windows and is pumped through opening in the fuselage. A new altimeter will
not fix that.

Fuel Leaks: We've got some experience there. We removed the tank, resoldered
leaks, and replaced the felt cushions. Tightening the fuel tank straps too
much caused structural failure of the solder joints and fuel leaks.
