It's covered in the service manual.  I assume you have the Forney nose gear.
Memo 41 covers the steel gear, although many of the measurements are
pertinent.  

 

Remove the scissors.  Remove the countersunk screws at the top of the gear.
Push the strut up, forcing the cylinder head up and out of the outer tube.
Remove the 2 snap rings from inside the top of the inner tube. The piston
comes out the top and the inner tube out the bottom.
