I want to thank everyone for your emails and continued interest in the Garmin 695/696 Panel Dock™. I am happy to say that we have made significant progress since my last email. We've been through several design iterations and we are finally able to share a few more details with you. The primary goal has been to minimize the overall "footprint" of the Panel Dock as much as possible. Everyone has limited panel space and the 696 is already quite large. We can't shrink the 696, but we think we've designed the Panel Dock so it is at a size that everyone will like. As currently designed, the outside dimensions of the 695/696 Panel Dock will be 6.25" wide by 8" tall. There is no latch protruding from the side of the Panel Dock, so it will not interfere with other avionics installed above, below, or on either side of the GPS. Currently we are evaluating the possibility of an Angle Adapter which could affect the Panel Dock design. Once this is complete, we will begin tooling the Panel Dock. We estimate that that a first run limited quantity of the 695/696 Panel Dock could be ready by late February or early March, and the price will be $199.
