Thought I'd toss my 2 cents in... I'm a relatively new Ercoupe pilot, less than 2 years experience. My coupe came with a snubber cable and I did not remove it for the first 6 months or so (I was already aware of its not being an original piece of equipment).
The cable has been removed for 1 1/2 years. I have no difficulty in landing nose high, crosswind (though usually mild) or not. Without trying to impress anyone on the list, I have received numerous comments on how smooth my landings are. Maybe it's just beginner's luck, but the fact remains the snubber cable, in my (limited) experience, is not needed. Your mileage may vary. Regards, John N272 '46 C
