Hi Percy,

When Durban said "...Ercoupe joined the boom and bust of 1946 to 1948" he was actually referring ONLY to the "boom" which was then followed by the "bust".  He was wrong when he then said "Five thousand...rolled out of the factory in the two years before things collapsed".  In such "overall" context I would read "boom AND bust" to cover both.

To reach that number of Ercoupes you actually have to include the prewar 112 (serial no. one has a manufacture date of January 19, 1940) and the Sanders production through 1950.

WRB

According to "The Ercoupe, " by Thomas, the "bust" started in late
1946. Basically, when all the rest of America got off war footing
and used it's produgious marketing power on a population starved
for consumer goods.

I'm over 6-foot and fit fine also.
