I'm interested in buying this Ercoupe. Can anyone vouch for the plane, Glen Davis, or a mechanic in the Daytona, Florida area that I could use for a pre-buy inspection?

I have an LSA compliant Ercoupe for sale. I have created two photo websites. One has 106 pictures of the plane as it is today and the other has 99 pictures showing the restoration in-progress. The links to the sites are:

N98228 is a truly exceptional LSA compliant 1946 Ercoupe 415C. Only 1250TT and 5 hours on a FACTORY REMANUFACTURED engine.

This is a pristine airplane. Absolutely no expense was spared to make this the best Light Sport Ercoupe money can buy. The former owner had this aircraft TOTALLY restored. Sadly, he only got to fly it two times before passing away. The restoration was completed in December of 2007. By total restoration, I mean this aircraft was taken apart, piece-by-piece. Every component, every rib, every stringer, every instrument, every nut, bolt, wire and cable was inspected, repaired or replaced if needed. The metal skins on the belly and tail feathers were removed. The entire inside of the aircraft was inspected, cleaned, acid etched and zinc chromate for corrosion protection. Then, new skins were installed. The fabric on the wings was removed. The same painstaking process of inspection, repair where necessary, acid etch and zinc chromate was done to the inside of the wings. While the wings were open, they were wired for landing lights and wingtip strobes. Then the wings were recovered. The craftsmanship of the fabric work is artistry. Documentation for over $20,000 for the restoration is available. In December of 2007, a factory remanufactured 0-200 (100HP) engine was purchased from Continental for $18,000 and installed. In total, over $45,000 was spent on the restoration. All the inspections panels in the wings and belly were installed as per SB32 for future center section inspections. The center section is clean as a whistle. The plane was painted in 2007 and hangared since. The paint is PERFECT. It is all white. Sadly, the owner died before he decided on the striping so the new owner gets to accent the plane with the stripes of his/her choice. It has only 1250 total time and only 5 hours on the factory remanufactured engine! All the flight instruments were overhauled. The old brakes were replaces with Clevelands. The entire plane has been completely rewired and replumbed. When you look under the instrument panel, all the wires are neatly bundled and secured. The metal prop was overhauled. It has a pristine Airtex interior. There is an oil filter and oil separator on the engine, both with the appropriate supporting paperwork. The Marvel carburetor was overhauled. A King Silver Crown radio stack was installed including a KX155 Navcom, a KT76A transponder and encoder, a KI108 indicator, a PSE intercom and ACK ELT. It also has EGT and CHT gauges. Cabin lighting is controlled with dimmers and most instruments have postlites. It has the extended baggage compartment and a flashing beacon is installed on the belly. A vacuum pump has replaced the venturis, reducing drag and providing vacuum pressure even while on the ground. At 2600 RPM at sea level, this plane indicates 120 MPH. N98228 has just completed its annual inspection in March 2009 and is good-to-go for another year trouble free. The only discrepancy found at annual was a crack in the exhaust pipe which was professionally welded and signed off by the IA. This Light Sport compliant aircraft is “like new” and available for ¼ the cost of a new LSA aircraft. It is located at 7FL6 in Port Orange, Florida. Price is $35,000. Delivery anywhere in the US is available for $200 per day plus expenses and an airline ticket home. Contact Glen Davis [email protected] or call 917 297 1111.
