Hey Nick: You already have been given the advice about lubricating and  
pulling out the center cable. I would recommend removing the tail cone, and  
spraying liquid wrench, or some other form of penetrating oil on to as much of 
 the trim cable housing as you can. I generally find that the problems are 
in the  tail. Also, when you install the new wire, lubricate the entire 
length with  GREASE prior to inserting  it into the sheath. ( I do this with a 
small  brush, and put the grease on about a foot at a time prior to shoving 
that  portion into the sheath)

My trim is siezed and I am not sure it is the proper part. The cable is a  
wraped steel shroud, with a single wire running through the center.Looks 
like  an old  (long) lawnmower throttle cable. Does that sound right. I thought 
 there were several pieces of tubing and possibly a multi strand cable. 
Also  how do you undo the clamps inside. I am 260 # and 6'2" . Do I prop up the 
tail  and lay something down inside , or inlist the services of a skinny
