First you must get the engine completely clean and dry.

Use varsol or a good water flush engine cleaner, thoroughly clean the entire
engine, flush with water and blow dry.

Now start the engine and let run for thirty seconds. Kill engine and check for
any wet spots.

If none, start engine again and do a very short high power run-up and check
again for any wet area.

I cannot stress enough that the engine must be absolutely clean and dry or you
will be chasing your tail.

Subject: [ercoupe-tech] Re; Oil in lower cowling

I just landed and I opened the cowling and had oil on the bottom of cowling
foward of the nose wheel. My mechanic can't seem to locate where the leak is
coming from.
Any clues.
